Salma Hayek does juice cleanses to stay fit

Mexican beauty Salma Hayek has revealed her secret to having one of the hottest bodies in Hollywood.
"I've been doing juice cleanses for 15 years," UsMagazine.com quoted her as saying.
And now the curvy actress has collaborated with pal and professional juicer Eric Helms to create Cooler Cleanse, a three or five-day juice detox delivery program.
"If I've been indulging in rich foods, a cleanse is a wonderful way to hit the reset button," said the 'Grown Ups' star.
The two worked with several New York-based nutritionists and vegan chefs to develop the juice and raw-food menus, opting to only use premium-grade, organic and sustainably-grown ingredients.
To begin the juice cleanse-which costs 58 dollar per day -- detoxers eliminate processed foods, caffeinated drinks, alcohol, dairy products and sushi.
Those on the program would receive a home delivery of six drinks including almond milk and watermelon lime-that add up to less than 1,200 calories a day.
"I always lose weight," said Hayek, who complements her cleanse by doing light yoga.
But Helms, who owns NYC's Juice Generation, mentioned that weight loss isn't the only benefit of a cleanse.
"You'll have renewed energy," he said.
"My skin glows when I finish day three. And it inspires me to think about what I put in my body," Hayek added.

Hirani's Heading For… 300 Gods!!

Post dealing with mundane 'Idiots' and garnering mega success, Rajkumar Hirani's ambitions have vaulted to celestial proportions! Hah, quite literally.

Amid mounting speculation, the cinevine has been set abuzz with news that Hirani is all set to helm his next opus called 'Hey Bhagwan!', the premier draft of which is ready. The title, seems stunningly apt, considering it's centred around 300 Gods of the Hindu pantheon.

A source close to Hirani squeals in a tabloid quote revealing, "Raju (Hirani) had met Abhijat Joshi, the writer of the 'Munnabhai' series and '3 Idiots', a couple of months back in the US. He discussed a certain idea and Abhijat loved it. They have worked on it, the rough draft is ready. The film deals with the issue of the multi deity culture in India and how there are different Gods to address different problems. The film will be styled in the typical Hirani format with plenty of humour together with a strong underlying message."

Word has it that work on 'Munnabhai Chale Amrika' is in swift progress too.

What's next? 'Munnabhai Chale Parlok?'

Hah, don't knock it.

Kat's Eleven For Spain!

Katrina Kaif's a top drawer professional. And she proved it once again, rather recently. Having bagged a break from her gruelling filming schedule in Spain for Zoya Akhtar's 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara', Kat dashed off to London to spend time with her folks and unwind, a wee.

The much needed hiatus availed, Kat was all set to return to Spain, post catching a flight from London to Madrid.

Monumental pity, she ended up missing the bus, oops sorry, flight… and ended up travelling a good 11 hours... at a stretch to make up for the delay!

Reveals Kat in a media chat, "Since I missed the Madrid flight from London, I had to wait at the London airport for nearly three hours, travel to another city in Spain and then finally travel to Pamplona, a small mountain village in Spain where Zoya's unit was put up. Since I'd missed the flight, I ended up travelling 11 hours travelling from one location to another."

The cherry on her cine icing: Kat managed to make it… right on time for her schedule and impressed all with her punctuality. Phew!

Emraan's Indore Mob Frenzy Tears Star Shirt!

Marquee stars routinely face a round of hero worship. Though when the adulation is collective, and herd mentality goes out of bounds, matters can take a rough turn. Or so discovered Emraan Hashmi, rather recently, riding a crest of popularity, post the catchy promos of 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai'

The actor, enacting a character reportedly patterned along the lines of don Dawood Ibrahim, had showed up in Indore for a promotional campaign of his Ekta Kapoor production.

A crazy crowd had gathered at the theatre when Hashmi arrived and the rest is best described in the words of a Balaji Films employee who spilled the details in a tabloid quote.

Says the insider, "There was a crowd of over 1000 people waiting to meet Emraan. They all wanted to click pictures with him and take autographs too. Emraan tried to be as accommodating as possible, but the crowd was getting impatient. They tried to pull Emraan towards them for pictures and Emraan's shirt tore in the process!"

Adds the source, "We feared for Emraan's security as he could have been injured since he was trapped right in the centre of being in a huge crowd! The security personnel, local police and theatre authorities had to be called in to save the situation. Besides, Emraan was also getting late to catch his return flight to Mumbai."

Kangna: 'My character isn't based on Mastan's wife!'

Even as Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi are facing the media heat and a cartload of ire from the underworld over their respective roles, reportedly patterned along the lines of Haji Mastan and Dawood Ibrahim, respectively, another svelte star too has received a dire threat.

Reportedly, Kangna Ranaut has been threatened to be lavished with a court case, since word has it that her character happens to be heavily based on Mastan's spouse.

Ridden with angst, Kangy putting up a façade of sangfroid told a curious media, "I really don't know about this. I'd like to clarify that my character is not really based on Haji Mastan's wife. Also, people have been going on a lot about my styling and costumes and 'looks' of the 1970s for 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai'. But I must say that shooting for it was tough since it was a 'period' film. We shot at about 80 locations, when normally you shoot at about 20 to 25 locations for a regular Hindi film. The best part is that the sets were so real that it almost felt that I'd gone back in time to the 1970s."

Admitting to a partial resemblance to the life and times of Mastan, Kangy states, "The film may have taken certain reference points from Haji Mastan's life, but to state that it is almost a film biography of his life is completely wrong."

Er, your take, Devgn?

YouTube's July 24 videos to be made into film

Video-sharing website YouTube has asked people to document one day - July 24 - of their lives, which will be put together to create the world's largest user-generated film by Oscar-winning directors Kevin Macdonald and Ridley Scott.

The directors want 'filmmakers' all over the world to take time out Saturday to film anything important in their lives and put their contributions on YouTube's 'Life in a Day' site for a project which aims to produce a global time capsule for July 24, 2010, Sky News reported.

'Every day, around 6.7 billion people view the world through their own unique lens,' YouTube said, calling on as many people as possible to contribute.

The results will be looked at by professionals and edited by Kevin Macdonald into a feature-length documentary, produced by Ridley Scott.

The filmmakers who have their inputs included will be credited as co-directors and 20 lucky contributors will be flown to the 2011 Sundance Film Festival in Utah for the world premiere.

'What I want to do is to make a film unlike any film, I think, that's ever been made before,' Macdonald, director of 'The Last King of Scotland' and 'One Day in September', was quoted as saying.

'It'll be kind of like a time capsule, which people in the future could look at and say: 'Oh my God, that's what it was like.' A portrait of the world in a day.'

Ridley Scott, meanwhile, explained what the team were looking for.

'It must be personal. The key, of course, is what appeals to you as the author.'

And for the would-be filmmaker, he has some good advice. 'There's no excuse. You have a digital camera, go out and shoot your film. Seriously, there is no excuse... just do it.'

And Once Again Movie Preview

The Rotating prayer bells, the fluttering holy flags encircling the majestic monasteries, the overwhelming peace filled in the valleys, the rhythmic chanting piercing the silence of the snow peaks…. All was being devoured by Manuvela and Rishi during their stay in Sikkim, India. Manuvela is an architect who is on her official visit. On her insistence, her husband, Rishikesh Nag joins her. The serenity of the gorgeous hills keeps both of them oblivious to the events dictated by their future!

Rishi is trying to cope with the reality since he had lost his wife and son in a violent attack when he was posted in Yugoslavia. While he was undergoing therapy in order to overcome his trauma, Rishi met Manuvela - his psychiatrist's daughter! She fell in love with him. Their marriage helped him to get back to life.

While returning from a monastery in Sikkim, Rishi sees a female monk who resembled his first wife Savitri. He gets restless with his doubt: he tries to identify her - unfortunately, his suspicion gets confirmed. Subsequently he confides in Manu about this accidental revelation: she also gets shaken.

The film unfolds their complex situation while tracing the roots of this incredible coincidence. Had Savitri not died? How did she end up being a monk in Sikkim? Does Savitri recognize Rishi? How does Manu react? What is end of this awkard dilemma?

While dealing with intricacies of man-woman relationship, the film subtly talks about repercussions of violence on human life: its lingering shadow on all of us with its startling shades! Somehow we manage to draw a line between our past and present....

AND ONCE AGAIN we face life!

"Use the stairs" says Sugar Free's latest TVC

Rediffusion Y&R has conceptualised a new TVC for Sugar Free which features their brand ambassador Bipasha Basu. Titled "Step to Fitness", it's aimed at moving people from being just "Fitness Thinkers" to "Fitness Doers".

Commenting on the TVC, Nisha Singhania, executive vice president, Rediffusion Y&R Mumbai, said "The 'stepathon' is the new concept that Sugar Free has come up with where it's urging people to stay fit. People have jogging shoes, track pants and other fitness equipment lying in their house, but they rarely come down to using them. This is the insight that we have used in this campaign."

The film opens with a man shown sleeping who hits the snooze button on his alarm clock to avoid waking up for his morning walk. The TVC then shows a pair of running shoes which have dust accumulated on them because of the rarity of them being used. It also shows track pants and a cycle which end up being used for different purposes. At this point, brand ambassador Bipasha Basu steps in to state that people think a lot about fitness but don't actually do anything about it. She thens says, "Take your first step to fitness: use the stairs instead of the lift, and instead of sugar, use Sugar Free."

The campaign will spread digitally soon.

Dish TV continues Indian DTH dominance

India’s DTH market leader Dish TV yesterday announced subscribers up 640,000 to 7.5 million for the June quarter, maintaining its dominance of the sector’s 23 million subscriber market.

Dish outranks competitors Tata Sky, Reliance Big TV, Sun Direct, Airtel Digital TV and Videocon d2h. The platform’s subscriber growth was 46% up on the previous quarter, when Dish added just 437,000 subscribers. Rise in additions was partially down to the FIFA World Cup, the company said.

Dish TV chairman Subhash Chandra said: “The [pan-India DTH] category recorded a phenomenal 2.5 million subscriber additions in the first quarter of the current fiscal, moving closer to becoming the largest DTH market in the world in terms of subscribers. Dish TV maintained its leadership position while garnering an all time high incremental market share of 25 per cent.”

Average revenue per subscriber (ARPU) is higher, although only just, up to Rs139 from the quarter, from the previous quarter’s Rs138. The company said that while “any spike in activations may exert a temporary pressure on the overall ARPU”, the higher subscriber numbers meant “significantly” reduced costs.

“Growth in subscriber numbers triggered operating leverage thus significantly reducing content cost as a percentage of revenues to a new low of 40 per cent,” said Jawahar Goel, Managing Director of Dish TV.

Expenditure for the quarter, at Rs2.72 billion, was much lower than the Rs3.01 billion the company spent in the same quarter the previous year.

Subscriber acquisition costs continue to fall, down from the previous quarter’s Rs2383 per new sub, to Rs2147.

Revenues grew 23% on the same period the previous year, to Rs3.11 billion, also up on the previous (March) quarter, when revenues stood at Rs3.04 billion.

Losses fell to Rs632 million, down on the corresponding period’s Rs692 million but up from the previous quarter’s Rs598 million.

"Have someone for five years and another person for another five years ... Life is long and lucky and yes, love might last forever, but you don't always live with the person you love forever," she added.

Valaya's clothes outshine Kangna on Couture Week ramp

It was a classic example of clothes stealing the show from a show-stopper. Designer J.J. Valaya's couture line at the ongoing Pearl's Infrastructure Delhi Couture Week was so impressive that it even overshadowed the presence of Bollywood actress Kangna Ranaut.

Inspired by a fictional character 'Alika', the line had elegant saris, lehengas paired with sexy cholis and long jackets, short kurtas with skin-fit chudidars and achakans and angrakhas for men. The line was a treat to the eyes and showed designers effort in putting up a magnificent show together.

This Delhi-based designer had used a lot of hand-embroidery, digital printing, appliques and lazer cuttings on fabrics such as jersey, dupion, georgette and fine velvets.

Through this line, Valaya has introduced 'Alika' jackets - a cross between a shirt and a jacket, it looks a bit like Indian traditional garment 'Sadri'.

This line had everything a bride-to-be dreams of, so when Kangna, who was wearing a heavily embroidery lehenga hoped that Valaya designs her wedding trousseau - no one was surprised.

'The moment I wore this lehenga, I told J.J. that you have to make my wedding dress. It is so beautiful, any bride's dream,' Kangna told reports here late Friday.

The stage for this show had a jungle like feel, with an artificial tree in the middle and a few artificial flowers in the backdrop.

As the models started walking in pristine white line, the whole show area burst in applause, complimenting the designer for his detailed work.

After whites, it was beige, then black and then heavily embroidered lehengas in various hues of fuschia, blue, beige, off-whites, and the line received great applause from the audience.

I really feel like food is a drug, says Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel believes that food is like a drug.

"I really feel like food is a drug. When I'm not eating properly, I have less energy - my body looks different, which means it looks different on film. I look different through my face. I think about those kinds of things and I want to feel more than it is the vanity part of it," the Daily Telegraph quoted her as telling the OK! magazine.

"I want to feel I can go 18 hours on set, if we have to, working, working, working, and feel confident about my health. So when I'm working, I'm really disciplined. When I'm not working, I'm very undisciplined," she added.

The 28-year-old beauty revealed that she loves tucking into her favourite foods, but is restricted to what she can eat.

"I love food, love it. But I'm really disciplined and boring most of the time. It's so true!" she added.

Guillermo del Toro to direct new 'Haunted Mansion'

Director Guillermo del Toro has revealed that he will take on Disney's 'The Haunted Mansion' as his next venture.

"Hellboy" director Del Toro also said that he will co-write and produce the film and may even direct it.

This is Disney's second stab at the flick, which was inspired by its theme park ride.

Eddie Murphy starred in the first crack at "The Haunted Mansion" in 2003, but Toro have said that his feature won't be anything like Murphy's comedy.

"It's going to be a thrill ride for the whole family, but it's definitely going to be scary," the New York Daily News quoted del Toro as telling the Hollywood Reporter.

"Walt Disney is one of the creators of some of the scariest images in my childhood. People forget that he not only made sweet images but also images of nightmare. We need to honour that side of the legacy," he added.

PEEPLI LIVE enhances T-Series and Aamir Khan's longstanding equation

Be it the melodious TAARE ZAMEEN PAR or the upbeat JAANE TU...YA JAANE NA ,T-Series and Aamir Khan Productions have always churned out chart busters.

No exception was made this time around with PEEPLI [LIVE] as the music company and star went all out to promote the music album of the film which was launched earlier in the month with a live performance by the artists involved.

Upbeat about their latest association with Aamir Khan Productions said Vinod Bhanushali, President, Media, Marketing and Publishing (TV),T-Series, "We have an association that is not just successful but one of great mutual trust and respect with Aamir, right from his breakthrough film 22 years ago, QSQT, as well as DIL AND DIL HAI KE MANTA NAHIN in the time of Gulshanji to the recent blockbusters like DIL CHAHTA HAI ,GHAJINI and 3 IDIOTS."

T-Series leaves no stones unturned in marketing and promoting their music right from having the music team interact with television channels to Aamir Khan and director Anusha Rizvi visiting FM stations.

Confirms Vinod Bhanushali, "Since the film does not star Aamir, it was necessary to create a strong acceptability and the right buzz, especially since the songs are situational. From day one plans were made and this has given results not just among young urban generations but across the country. In fact the response is way beyond what we expected"

Arbaaz Khan: DABANGG isn't WANTED's sequel

Pankaj Sabnani, Bollywood Trade News Network
The promo of Salman Khan's DABANGG is out and those who have seen it are raving about it. It looks uncannily similar to the 2009 Salman Khan starrer WANTED. However, Arbaaz Khan, who is the producer of DABANGG doesn't think so.

"DABANGG isn't WANTED's sequel. It's very different from WANTED. It's far more in a believable space though it's a commercial film. The action is similar to WANTED but that's about it. That was a city based film. Ours is a small town slick action drama. But the kind of audience that liked WANTED is surely going to like DABANGG."

Salman Khan looks very similar to his WANTED's character in DABANGG. Even in DABANGG, he's playing a police officer. Doesn't Arbaaz think so? "That's true. But Salman's character in WANTED was very brooding, quiet and serious. Here, he is entertaining, jovial and far more verbose."

DABANGG will see Shatrughan Sinha's daughter, Sonakshi Sinha making her debut. Being directed by Abhinav Kashyap, DABANGG is slated to release on September 10.

T-Series bags music rights of DABAANG and AASHAYEIN

Audio giant T-Series has snapped the music rights of Salman Khan's latest film DABANGG and Nagesh Kukonoor's much delayed project AASHAYEIN starring John Abraham.

DABANGG's music is composed by Salman's favourite Sajid Wajid where as the duo of Salim Sulaiman and Pritam have scored the music for AASHAYEIN.

AASHAYEIN the much lagged project will finally see the light of the day with its audio being launched this week. DABANGG with all the hoopla created will see its music releasing on 5 August.

Talking about the reasons for delay of AASHAYEIN and its marketing strategy now T-Series president - marketing media publishing (TV) Vinod Bhanushali said, "We have already started airing the promos and songs of AASHAYEIN. The film kept getting delayed because of several reasons also there were so many other films to be launched. But now, the promotions for the film are in full swing. The singers from the album, Neeraj Shridhar, Shaan and Tulsi Kumar were promoting the music on radio stations in Delhi for the last few days. The Mumbai leg of promotions will start from today."

Bhanushali talking about the promotion plans of DABANGG added enthusiastically, "The first look of the film is already out on few news channels and it has received good reviews. Our team is working on an extensive plan to launch the audio of the film. On 25 July we are planning to launch a promo across all the GEC's, news channels as well as music channels."

The label is also planning to launch devotional albums keeping in mind the upcoming festive season. It has launched an album titled 'Main Teri Sharan Hun' sung by maestro Pandit Jasraj, A. Hari Haran, Anuradha Paudwal and Suresh Wadekar. The music for the album is scored by Akashraj who has also penned the lyrics.

Adds Bhanushali, "We release around 25 devotional albums in a year, the bulk of which is launched during this season. There are a dedicated number of listeners for such albums and their shelf life is long. But the profit from such albums is comparatively less than a music film album hence it is difficult to promote all of them."

SALT Movie Review

ajolie2_featured
If you swear by action movies and love suspense, ‘Salt’ is a thriller worth watching. Jolie riding a Triumph Street Triple R bike was pretty impressive, making any gal feel that riding a bike is incredibly ‘cool’.
We see a different Evelyn Salt as the story progresses. Is Salt a mole or a pawn?  Don’t expect the crackling action of ‘Mr and Mrs Smith or Wanted. The stunts in Salt make Angelina indestructible (she jumps from an overpass onto a moving truck, then leaps on a tanker and jumps on a moving train and brushes herself off and oh – uses a sanitary napkin to plug a wound). This is where the film falters -in its bid to prove that Angie can take on any Arnie clinging to a fighter plane (True Lies and Eraser),  it gives up on Angie the flesh-and-blood spy it wants to capture.
Who really is Evelyn Salt? The first rule of thumb, seeing is NOT believing in the world of espionage. Director Phillip Noyce takes the audience to the edge of suspense till the end. Like any spy flick, there’s mind-numbing action, which is mostly gripping. Especially when unfurled on Angelina Jolie. Even before you finish your popcorn, the first half of the film is over. Like Noyce’s earlier movie  Saint, Salt also is fast-paced.

Angelina Jolie is Evelyn Salt, the CIA agent whose love interest is arachnologist Mike Krause (August Diehl). The film begins with Jolie’s release after brutal interrogation in North Korea. Back to work and back to life, Evelyn is looking forward to spending the evening with Mike to celebrate their first anniversary. Everything seemed perfect until she interrogates a Russian defector under CIA custody – Vassily Orlov (Daniel Olbrychski). He unfurls a strange story of ‘sleeper agents’ assigned by Russia to infiltrate into the US for gaining gradual information through the years.

To convince the audience, the assassination of John F Kennedy is introduced to the plot. Orlov explains that Lee Harvey Oswald – JFK’s assassin was actually a Russian spy Alek. He says there are many more ‘Aleks’ in US deployed by Russian mastermind, moulded by ideology and manipulated for greater tasks as ‘deep cover’ agents. Salt, he says is actually one among them.
Orlov’s story diverts the attention to Evelyn Salt. Now her real identity is under question. Meanwhile Orlov escapes from custody and Salt realises the impending danger as even her colleagues seem convinced by Orlov’s tale. Her movements are now restricted by Agent Peabody (Chiwetel Ejiofor) but Agent Ted Winter (Leiv Screiber) is apprehensive about Orlov’s story, and doesn’t believe that Salt is a spy. Then begins the dramatic chase and a sequence of thrilling events.  Salt’s escape from the high-security building one of the ‘moments’ from the film.

Director Noyce plays safe and sticks to a de-glam Angelina unlike his earlier espionage movie Saint starring Val Kilmer and Elizabeth Shue.

Though the film is a major break for Leiv who was sinking into oblivion, the choice of characters aren’t that impressive, especially a disoriented Hunt Block as the US President. August Diehl failed to impress as Mike Krause, Salt’s husband.
Anjie is still red-hot – watch Salt to see her play the action hero.
