Carey Mulligan hailed as 'the new Audrey Hepburn'

Carey Mulligan has been hailed as "the new Audrey Hepburn" by Variety magazine.

The 24-year-old star, who was rejected by three drama schools, stunned all with her performance in An Education.

Time magazine declared: "A star is born", reports the Telegraph.

Mulligan, who made her acting debut in 2005, gained widespread recognition for playing the role of Jenny in the movie.

She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance.
