Anurag Kashyap returned from a trip from London to Mumbai.. and got embroiled in a 36 hour nightmare! The 'Dev D' director had come back stacked with loads of DVDs… all legally purchased!
"I dutifully went through the red channel and declared all the DVDs," reveals Kashyap in a tabloid chat, "I agreed to pay duty though I've been bringing DVDs from England on each trip and I've never had to pay duty before. I told the Customs officials that I would come back the next day and pay up since I didn't have the cash in hand at that time."
However, he was shell shocked when the Customs officials not only refused to return his DVDs, they confiscated his luggage too! An embittered Kashyap pulled all the right strings, and got back his possessions… but with a clause.
"I had to give a written undertaking that each of the DVDs brought by me was neither pirated nor pornographic." says an exasperated Kashyap. "I live and die for my DVDs. They are the only valuable possessions that I have."
